UCL Alumni Profile

Name: Kirsty Swampillai

Current Role: Trainee ICAEW Chartered Accountant

Studies: MSci Chemistry '15

"After completing a summer internship at Saffery Champness in my penultimate year of University, I was offered a training contract upon completion of my degree at UCL. During my last year of University I worked as an ICAEW Campus Ambassador, allowing me to further my knowledge on the wide range of benefits gained through undertaking the professional qualifications offered by ICAEW and allowed me to connect with a wide range of members of the ICAEW community.

I am now currently studying towards the ICAEW Chartered Accountancy (ACA) qualification as part of the Business Advisory graduate programme at Saffery Champness. My experience of studying Chemistry at UCL gave me a strong analytical mind and developed my attention to detail. It also taught me the importance of teamwork and communication; being part of various societies at UCL was a great opportunity and one I would strongly encourage as it developed my commercial awareness and the socials are also great!

The skills I have gained during my time at UCL have been essential for my day to day work as an ICAEW trainee chartered accountant, especially during times when I am out of the office on an audit, working in the office or even at college studying for my exams."
